Be the CEO of Your Own Life

I am sure you've already set your goals and intentions for 2022. If your goals include healthy eating and keeping your body in healthy and happy shape, then I would love to share some tips to make the process less stressful and to bring you the most satisfying results. I will give you a little background, so you can understand why I qualify to share tips on getting into shape. Fitness and wellness have always been in my life. I did sports at school, and I studied at the Physical Education and Sports College. I was a personal trainer for 18 years, and I competed in Fitness while training at Gold's Gym in Venice, California--the mecca of bodybuilding. Because of the competitions and the extreme dieting, I developed an eating disorder, so on a scale of "healthy and happy body" to "depressed and unhealthy body," I have been to both extremes. It's taken years of hard work for me to get back to the middle of the scale.
.
It wasn't just about physical hard work; it was very much about mental and spiritual hard work. To achieve a healthy and happy body is not about finding the "secret exercise," the "ultimate diet," or the "slim-down-quick program." I knew all of them by heart, and I still struggled to get to the middle of the scale. I know the pain of hating your body and being ashamed. Being CEO of your own life means being free from this pain. Therefore, I would love to share these two tips that finally helped me to be free, and I pray that they unlock your chains from your body shame prison. I have remained loyal to these principles for over 20 years now, and I've never gone back to the extremes.

Our body follows our mind; therefore, our mind doesn't care what our body wants or how it wants to look. So, if you set your goal and you say to your mind, "This is how you want to look," the mind will grant your request for a while--but then it will let go of your goal, because your mind feels superior to your body. However, if you get your True Self or your Higher Self or your Spirit involved--then your mind will respect HER so much more. At first, your mind might be stubborn, but eventually, it will want to be part of HER happiness. My shift didn't start until I began ignoring the scale and the size of my body. My goal was to match the joyful feeling of my True Self instead. I wanted to wake up in the morning feeling happy and full of excitement for the new day. The only way I could wake up like that was if my previous day was good--full of healthy eating and exercise, and also some reading or listening to clips or Podcasts on spiritual and motivational growth. If I went to bed fully satisfied with my day, then I woke up in the morning feeling thrilled about life. Whenever you have 'those moments,' think about how awesome you will feel tomorrow morning if you choose HER over your mind. Your mind will start liking and respecting your True Self, and eventually you'll give over the authority to HER. Stay loyal to HER, and SHE will lead you to your freedom.

The second tip is more practical. You already know that we should eat slowly and be fully present while we eat. Since it is so cliche, we underestimate the value of eating slowly. However, you might consider slowing down when eating for these two reasons: 1. Imagine jam-packing your Nutribullet blender with all the frozen fruits, protein powder, and a little water, but you turn the blender on, and it doesn't work because it's jammed. However, if you were to gradually add the fruit, the blender would process it with no problems. Your intestines work the same way as the blender; therefore, when you eat, make sure not to jam the blender/intestines. 2. Slowing down your eating will allow you to recognize when you've "crossed your finish line," (I call it the Godline) when your stomach says, "I am full." Imagine your body's alert signal to be like the security parking system in your car. When you are parking too close to an object, you slow down and continue to move super slowly until your two red lights and the alarm starts to beep--which means "STOP." If you move too fast or if you are not paying attention because you're talking on the phone, then you miss the alarm...and you know what that means. Therefore, slow down when you're eating so you are able to recognize when you are getting close to the finish line. Always respect the "Godline."
So, these are the two main principles I follow to keep my body healthy and happy. My motivation is my TRUE Self, not the shape of my body (or that dress to fit into, or that reunion to attend). I respect my Godline (with no exception, except on Christmas with Opekance...see my blog about Christmas )
